Bryan Elected Second Vice President of North Carolina Association of County Commissioners

Commissioner Joe BryanWake County Commissioner Joe Bryan has been elected 2nd Vice President of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC).

As a Knightdale resident, he was first elected to the Wake County Board of Commissioners in 2002. As Second Vice President of NCACC, Bryan will work with members of the Board of Directors and its Executive Committee to make policy decisions to guide the Association and its staff through the year.

"I proudly serve the people of Wake County every day," said Bryan. "In my new role, as Second Vice President of North Carolina Association of County Commissioners, I will work with all 100 counties across the state to build a strong foundation of core infrastructure – such as schools, water and sewer, and transportation to make all of Commissioner Bryan is sworn in at the NC Association of County Commissioners conference.North Carolina stronger."

Bryan was elected and sworn in Saturday at the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners conference in Cumberland County. Bryan has previously served three years on the NCACC Board of Directors and currently serves as a Vice Chairman of the Transportation Committee for the National Association of Counties. As Second Vice President of NCACC he will begin the progression of offices towards President of the Association.

County Commissioners Betty Lou Ward (Wake County), Brian McMahan (Jackson County) and Viola Harris (Edgecombe County) each gave a speech in support of electing Bryan for the second vice president office during the conference business meeting Saturday, prior to the election.

The North Carolina Association of County Commissioners is the official voice of all 100 counties on issues being considered by the General Assembly and state and federal agencies. The Board of Directors meets several times throughout the year to develop statewide policy goals in such areas as taxation, agriculture, environment, criminal justice, human resources and public education.
