NEW TYPE OF ELECTION SET FOR CARY: IT'S AS EASY AS 1, 2, 3

Cary voters will begin a new method of voting in the October 9th municipal election -- using a new kind of ballot. The new method -- called Instant Runoff Voting -- makes a separate runoff election unnecessary.

Instant Runoff Voting allows voters to mark their first choice and backup choices for each office at the same time. Using a ballot with three columns, voters can select up to three candidates in order of their preference: first, second, and third.

More information about the upcoming elections can be found online at www.wakegov.com/elections, or by calling the Wake County Board of Elections at 919-856-6240.
