Give a Million Patriotic Thanks at Historic Oak View on Saturday

7/3/2007

If you're looking for new ways to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday, why not write a letter to a serviceman or woman? Or maybe see if your child would like to draw a picture? Historic Oak View County Park will collect letters and drawings for military personnel as part of its post-Independence Day celebration Saturday, July 7, 2007, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The effort is part of the "A Millions Thanks" organization, which is a year-round campaign to show U.S. military men and women, past and present, how much others appreciate their sacrifices, dedication and service to the country. Historic Oak View County Park will have a table available for those who wish to write letters on Saturday.

The park's festivities will also feature live music, re-enactors from various wars, Fourth-of-July crafts and old-time games. Those who enjoy baking as much as eating, should enter the pie-baking contest! As always, this event is free for all ages.

Historic Oak View County Park is located at 4028 Carya Drive, Raleigh, near the intersection of Poole Road and the I-440 Beltline (Exit 15) in the Wake County Office Park. For more information, visit www.wakegov.com/parks or call 919-250-1013.
