New Bullseye Pistol League to Begin Nov. 28 at Firearms Training Center
11/21/2006
On Tuesday, November 28, a Bullseye Pistol shooting league will go into action at the Wake County Firearms Education and Training Center, 3921 Old Holly Springs-Apex Road, beginning with an organizational meeting and first match at 6 p.m.
The league is open to any member of the range, and the fee to participate is $15. No pre-registration is required, but additional information is available from Bob Den Bleyker at (919) 851-5299 or bobdenbleyker@aim.com.
Bullseye Pistol is the classic pistol shooting competition where competitors shoot slow fire, timed fire and rapid fire at targets from 25 to 50 yards away, using only one hand. The pistols may be either a revolver or an autoloading pistol, and the gun can be equipped with either metallic or optical sights. The only types of sighting systems prohibited are ones that project an image on the target, such as laser sights.
The plans are to begin meeting once a month with a different type of handgun used each month. The designated handgun for November is any .22-caliber handgun. Next month, any center-fire handgun can be used, and the following month the .45-caliber handgun will be the designated competition gun.
If the league attracts more participants than the range can hold at one time, additional dates will be set up. The League is sanctioned by the National Rifle Association, and scores will be reported for classification purposes.
Anyone may attend a league match as an observer at no charge. Ear and eye protection is required for all participants and observers. Citizens who are not members of the public range can join by attending a range safety course held several times each month. The range has both 50-yard and 100-meter indoor shooting positions for all types of firearms and is open to the public on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Additional information on range membership is available by calling 303-0851 during public hours or by visiting www.wakegov.com/ccbi/fetc.
