Human Services Offers Flu Shot Clinics

Wake County Human Services will kick off its flu shot clinics Saturday, November 4, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. This special Saturday offering will be held in Clinic E of Human Services-Sunnybrook, 10 Sunnybrook Road (next to WakeMed), Raleigh. No appointment is needed.

Beginning Monday, November 6, flu shot clinics will be held Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in Clinic E, the same location as Saturday's. No appointment is needed. Pneumonia shots and Flu Mist, a nasal spray flu vaccine for healthy individuals, will also be available.

Wake County received its first shipment of flu vaccine November 2.

Flu shots will be available at the Southern Regional Center on Tuesdays, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., beginning November 7. The Southern Regional Center is located at 130 North Judd Parkway NE, Fuquay-Varina. No appointment is necessary.

Flu shots will be available at the Eastern Regional Center on Fridays, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., beginning November 17. The Eastern Regional Center is located at 1003 Dogwood Drive, Zebulon. No appointment is needed.

The cost for flu shots at all Human Services clinics is $25 (cash or check). The cost for pneumonia shots is $50, and FluMist is $45. Medicare Part B covers the cost of flu and pneumonia shots. Human Services will file Medicare Part B for those with traditional Medicare cards. Those with Medicare HMOs or other providers should make arrangements to pay at the time of service.

There will be no charge for flu vaccine this year for the following individuals:

  • Children ages 6 months to 59 months
  • Children who are at high risk for complications of flu (6 months to 18 years old)
  • Children (6 months to 18 years old) who live in the same house as an adult who is at high risk for complications of flu

Flu shot clinics will be closed on the following County holidays:

  • Veterans Day, Friday, November 10
  • Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 23, and Friday, November 24
  • Christmas, Monday, December 25, and Tuesday, December 26.
