Up to $10,000 Available for Innovative Business Recycling Programs
10/30/2006
Wake County Solid Waste Management is accepting applications for commercial waste reduction grants, offering up to $10,000 for innovative business waste reduction projects. Organizations looking to increase their involvement in waste reduction and recycling efforts are encouraged to apply, and applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2006.
The funding provides businesses with an opportunity to develop and implement programs that can reduce the amount of recyclable material entering the waste stream, offset the high costs of waste disposal and enhance the company’s image as an environmentally conscious business.
"These grants meet the needs of a wide variety of businesses," said Wake Solid Waste Director Jim Reynolds. "We've awarded grants for a stadium-wide recycling program, a food-waste composting program, and a construction and demolition debris recovery program." Commercial, industrial, institutional and nonprofit agencies are eligible to apply.
The Solid Waste Management Division has awarded 37 commercial waste reduction grants since the program’s inception in 1995. To obtain an application and more information about the commercial waste reduction grants, please visit www.wakegov.com/recycling/business or call (919) 856-5698.
