EMS Fund Subscription Drive Under Way: A Deal for Your Family
9/5/2006
Wake County Rescue Squads and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are offering County residents an inexpensive alternative to costly ambulance bills. The 13th-annual Wake Rescue and EMS Fund subscription drive is under way.
A single ambulance transport can often exceed $500, and Medicare and health insurance policies don't always cover this cost. A $60 subscription fee to the EMS Fund ensures unlimited (entire household) emergency 9-1-1 ambulance service anywhere in Wake County for a full year. Subscription forms are being mailed out to County residents, or you can subscribe by calling 856-6205 or clicking here.
Last year the Wake County EMS System answered more than 60,000 calls for help. More than 45,000 of those calls resulted in a patient transport to a local emergency department. Wake County citizens can protect their entire household from expensive emergency ambulance bills with the annual $60 subscription.
The Wake EMS system is supported by a combination of tax funds and user fees. There are six private, nonprofit corporate EMS/rescue squads in Wake County, all of which rely on volunteers for support. All membership money from EMS Fund members in a squad’s service area goes to that squad to support its operations.
