Capital Area Workforce Development Board, serving Wake and Johnston counties, received an outstanding achievement award last week for the JobLink Career Center located at the Human Services Center-Swinburne, located at 220 Swinburne St. in Raleigh.
The JobLink Career Center at Swinburne was recognized for achieving the highest level of chartering across the state of North Carolina (Level III). Capital Area Workforce Development Board and JobLink staffs were recognized at the Governors Awards for Excellence Ceremony in Greensboro. Carmen Carroll, JobLink coordinator with Wake County Human Services, and Robert Barham, Capital Area Board Chair, accepted the award. In addition to a plaque, the Center will receive $25,000 for achieving Level III status.
The award recognizes the Board as a leader and acknowledges the outstanding partnerships between Wake County and the Workforce Development System.
“We are excited about the opportunity to serve area employers and workers with this program, as it will not only help the local economy but will provide employees with more challenging, productive work that will improve their lives and their families’ lives,” said Durwood Woodall, chair of the Capital Area Workforce Development Board. “This grant will benefit both employers and employees in this area tremendously, and will have a long-lasting impact on many other sectors of our economy, as well.”
