Help Move the Cameron Village Regional Library!!!
10/21/2005
Planning is under way for the return of Cameron Village Regional Library from its temporary location at 410 Oberlin Road into its new, expanded, renovated and pristine permanent home at 1930 Clark Ave. The staff is asking residents of all ages to help with the move by checking out extra books.
Cameron Village Regional Library will close on December 3, 2005, in its temporary location and will reopen on January 21, 2006, in the new building. Beginning November 1, all books borrowed will have extended loan periods – books borrowed will not be due until after the library reopens in January. Fines will not be charged at the Cameron Village Library through the month of February.
Readers can enjoy extra books over the holidays (while the library is closed) and can return them on their first few visits to the new library in 2006. Readers have lots of books; the library staff doesn’t have to pack those books—it’s a win/win situation for everyone involved.
This strategy was used in June 2004 when the library moved into its temporary quarters. Customers of the library borrowed nearly 20,000 extra books to assist with the move. Books were borrowed from one location and returned to the other. The library staff will be packing more than 4,000 boxes of books for the move, so every extra item borrowed makes a difference.
In addition to asking patrons to take additional books, the library is actively seeking volunteers to assist with packing and unpacking during its relocation. Please pick up a volunteer application at the library.
