Cooke, Hutchinson, Smith to Participate in Nationwide Webcast on Open Space Thursday at 2 p.m.

Wake County Manager David Cooke, Open Space Advisory Committee Chair Sig Hutchinson, and Parks' Open Space Program Manager Kurt Smith will present in a June 9, 2 p.m. national webcast sponsored by the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and the Trust for Public Land (TPL). In cooperation with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), ICMA will host the 90-minute webcast -- Protecting Water Resources through Land Conservation: Funding Options for Local Governments. Cooke and team will discuss the County's successful Open Space preservation program. The webcast will provide context for the role of conservation finance in land conservation, describe critical components for creating a successful funding effort, and showcase local government success stories. Webcast speakers will also include Eric Keck, City Manager, City of Draper, Utah; and Matthew Zieper, National Research Director, The Trust for Public Land.
