New Web Site Offers Updated Sanitation Information
4/28/2005
Want to know how your favorite restaurant fared in its most recent health inspection? The answer is only a click away. Beginning today, Wake County launches an all-new online service that displays current sanitation scores for food and lodging facilities, daycares, hospitals and other state-regulated facilities.
The new Web site, wakegov.com/sanitation/ contains updated data within days of inspections. In addition to the sanitation score for each institution in Wake County, visitors to the site can see which specific items Wake County environmental health specialists marked for deductions during an inspection and can also view a history of sanitation scores for a particular institution.
Another feature of the site is e-mail notification. By setting up an online account, Web users can sign up to be notified via e-mail of inspections of the foodservice or other establishments they designate.
"This gives updated information to allow people to make educated decisions on where to dine out," said Andre Pierce, director of Wake County Environmental Services' Food Sanitation Section.
