Holidays Around the World
12/1/2004
Historic Oak View County Park and the Wake County Extension and Community Association will once again sponsor "Holidays Around the World" at Oak View from December 7- 12.
"Holidays Around the World" is an annual, free event featuring 17 trees and 13 displays depicting holiday customs from countries around the world, with a collection of homemade gingerbread houses and a snowman on display. Homemade cookies, candy and ornaments will be on sale.
Visitors are encouraged to bring coats, hats, gloves or nonperishable food items for a "warming tree." All donations will assist the Battered Women's Shelter. Come during the week and tour the property decorated with traditional holiday celebrations from all corners of the world.
In addition, Oak View will host a Christmas Open House and Candlelight Tour on Saturday, December 11. Get a taste for Christmas past at this free family event! After the sun sets the park comes alive with the glow of luminaries and Christmas cheer. Come out and ride a horse and carriage through Oak View's Pecan Grove, listen to Christmas carols in the 1855 farmstead, drink hot apple cider, hear Christmas stories and visit with Old St. Nick.
