Frank Bielec of the TLC cable network's Trading Spaces will be at the Wake County Animal Care, Control & Adoption Center on Tuesday, November 2, to present his sketch of a makeover of the Adoption Center's cat habitat.

Bielec will headline the event, scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Adoption Center, 820 Beacon Lake Drive in Raleigh. Adoption Center Manager Nancy Clemmons will accept a $10,000 grant awarded by the Purina Friskies® for More™ Cat Habitat Shelter Program to renovate the Adoption Center's cat habitat. Renovations will take place Tuesday, November 11.

"The renovation of our cat habitat will help our organization increase the awareness that we are not solely a sheltering facility, but an adoption center as well," Clemmons said. "The change also shows our commitment and determination to help sheltered cats live happier, healthier lives while they are waiting to be adopted."

The Wake County Animal Adoption Center was one of 10 finalists selected from more than 600 shelters across the country entered in the Friskies® for More™ Cat Habitat Shelter Program contest. Winning entries were chosen based on current condition of their cat habitats, last renovation and annual budget.

The Wake County Animal Control Program enforces the Wake County Ordinance and the N.C. General Statutes relating to animal control, animal welfare and public health. As a component of the Program, the Adoption Center provides outreach programs to reduce the spread of infectious diseases, decrease the number of unwanted litters and educate the community about the laws pertinent to the proper maintenance of companion animals.
