Monitoring Charley

Due to the threat of severe weather from Hurricane Charley, Wake County Emergency Management teams are closely monitoring the storm's track. Emergency response agencies around the county are on call, and citizens are encouraged to stay tuned to news media reports and take appropriate precautions. Links to information and hurricane preparedness checklists can also be found on Wake County's Web site, www.wakegov.com. In the event of an emergency, residents should call 9-1-1.
Saturday Picnic for 300 County Foster Family Members Postponed
Wake County Human Services has postponed its annual picnic for foster families, originally scheduled for Saturday, August 14. The 24th Annual Foster Family Picnic and Baking Contest was to be held at the N.C. State Fairgrounds Community Center Building from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Organizers estimate 300 foster parents and children were planning to attend the event. The rescheduled date of the celebration will be announced in the future.
