Rabies Clinic July 24
7/8/2004
To help protect you and your pets, the Wake County Animal Care, Control & Adoption Center and the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine will host a rabies clinic Saturday, July 24, at the Wake County Adoption Center, 820 Beacon Lake Drive in Raleigh. The clinic will run from 9 a.m. to noon.
“We encourage everyone to come out,” said Dicke Sloop, Environmental Health and Safety Director. “During this time of year, it is extremely important to make sure your pets are current on their rabies vaccination, for your pets’ protection as well as your family’s protection. We are committed to making sure the public is aware of how serious rabies can be and to educate them through our rabies clinics about how to protect themselves from exposure.”
Rabies is a disease caused by a virus that can infect all mammals, including humans. It is transmitted through contact with the saliva or nervous tissue of an infected animal – usually through a bite. If an exposed person is not treated quickly, the virus may infect the person and could result in death.
