Regina Crooms, a contracts manager with Wake County Human Services and former policy analyst for the Governor’s Commission on Workforce Preparedness, has been named Workforce Development Director for Wake County, County Manager David Cooke said today.
Crooms, who earned her master’s and bachelor’s degrees in public administration from North Carolina Central University, has been with Wake County Human Services since 1998. She will begin her duties as Workforce Development Director on June 7.
As Workforce Development Director, Crooms will lead a staff of 14 in carrying out the objectives of the Capital Area Workforce Development Board, which is located in Raleigh and serves the citizens of Johnston and Wake counties.
The mission of the Capital Area Workforce Development Board is to create a highly skilled workforce system that provides employers with productive, skilled workers and offers citizens training and employment opportunities that promote job satisfaction and economic stability.
"We are very pleased to bring someone in with Regina’s level of experience and understanding of the local job market," Cooke said. "As the signs of economic recovery continue to emerge, Regina’s experience with partnerships and job training will serve our citizens well."
