Cary Shelter Opens

Wake County Government has opened its fourth emergency shelter at Cary Senior High School, at 638 Walnut Street in Cary. Emergency shelters at Garner High School and East Wake High School are over capacity with sitting room only.
A shelter is also open at Enloe High School, 128 Clarendon Crescent, off New Bern Avenue in east Raleigh The full shelters are located at East Wake High School, 5101 Rolesville Road in Wendell; Garner High School, 2101 Spring Drive in Garner; are already over capacity with sitting room only.
Anyone with medical or other special needs should call the Emergency Operations Center at 919-856-7044 prior to going to the shelter.
The shelters are staffed by Wake County Government. Pillows, blankets and cots, as well as food, will be provided. Anyone who needs to use the shelters should bring:

Identification and important personal documents

Toiletries (toothbrush and toothpaste, etc.) and any needed medications

Feeding formula and diapers for infants

A change of clothing
-
Books, games and simple toys for children.
Pets are not allowed at the shelters, with the exception of service animals, such as seeing-eye dogs.
