Johnna Rogers, a CPA with more than 10 years of senior-level budgeting experience in local government, has been named Budget and Management Services Director for Wake County, County Manager David Cooke said today.
Rogers, a native of Winston-Salem, currently is the director of budget and management for the City of Norfolk, Va., prior to which she served as Chief Financial Officer/Deputy City Manager for the City of Portsmouth, Va.
She will begin work with Wake County on December 8. As Budget and Management Services Director, she will lead the County agency of six staff members responsible for providing information and guidance to the Board of Commissioners and county manager and compiling the annual budget for Wake County Government.
“We are excited about Johnna becoming a part of the County’s senior management team, and we are very pleased to bring someone in with her level of experience and understanding of local government,” Cooke said. “The County has a strong track record of fiscal stewardship, and Johnna’s experience with similar-sized jurisdictions will serve our County departments and our citizens well.”
Rogers, who has spent most of the past 17 years in Virginia, cited family ties as a big reason for her desire to return to North Carolina. She earned her bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill in 1985.
