New Public Info. Director

Sharon Brown has been named Wake County's Public Information Director, County Manager David Cooke announced today.
Brown is a native of Rose Hill, N.C., and has worked for the County for four years as Human Services' communications and marketing director. As public information director, she will manage all of the County's internal and external communications.
"Communicating ideas and information among county employees and citizens is essential to good government and delivering quality services," Brown says. "I'm eager to help make the County's communications successful."
Brown's experience includes work as an assistant section editor with The Fayetteville Observer. She worked in Washington, D.C., where she served as press secretary in the U.S. Congress for Senators Gaylord Nelson and Joe Biden, and Reps. Morris Udall and Tom Carper. She was later a vice president with Burson-Marsteller public relations and helped establish several nonprofit organizations.
Brown also worked in New York and Connecticut in high-tech marketing for IBM Corporation and a subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard, and for the nonprofit International Executive Service Corps. She holds a B.A. degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
