Municipal Filing

County offices will be closed on Friday, July 4. The filing period for the City of Raleigh, Town of Cary and Board of Education will begin on Monday, July 7, during regular business hours.

Filing will also begin on Monday, July 7, for the November 4 municipal elections. All candidates wishing to run for an office on the Wake County Board of Education District 3, 4, 5, 6 or 8 or the City of Raleigh must file at the Wake County Board of Elections office. The municipalities of Apex, Cary, Fuquay-Varina, Garner, Holly Springs, Knightdale, Morrisville, Rolesville, Wake Forest, Wendell and Zebulon may file at their appropriate Town Hall or at the Wake County Board of Elections office, 337 S. Salisbury St. in downtown Raleigh.

Filing will end on Friday, August 1, at 12 noon.

New Board to Be Sworn in July 22

At its June 30 meeting, the North Carolina State Board of Elections reappointed Dr. John H. Gilbert and Thomas W. Steed Jr. to the Wake County Board of Elections. The State Board also appointed Sharon Morris to the Wake County Board. Each will serve a two-year term.

The swearing in ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, July 22, at 12 noon in the Board of Elections Office, Wake County Office Building, 337 S. Salisbury St. A "welcome" reception will follow immediately after the swearing in ceremony.
