Shelter Open Longer

Effective April 27, 2003, the Wake County Animal Shelter, 820 Beacon Lake Drive in Raleigh, will offer extended hours to better serve its customers. With the new schedule, the Shelter will be open seven days a week and will feature evening hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

New hours of operation are:

• Sunday, 1-4 p.m.
• Tuesday & Thursday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Hours for Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday will remain 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

"This is something citizens have requested," said Dicke Sloop, director of Wake County Animal Control. "We're extending our hours to give people more access to reclaiming their animals and more opportunity to adopt animals, which will help decrease the animal population at the shelter."
