Warmth for Wake Begins 25th Year
8/25/2005
RALEIGH – Halloween 2002 marks the kick-off of Warmth for Wake's 25th year of bringing warm winters to Wake County's needy residents.
Warmth for Wake is the annual energy assistance program sponsored by Wake County Human Services and the North Carolina Bankers' Association. Over the years, Warmth for Wake has provided fuel assistance for thousands of individuals from low-income households in Wake County during the cold months. No administrative costs are taken from contributions – every penny raised goes directly to those who need it.
During last year's campaign, Warmth for Wake assisted 574 households throughout the county. Contributions totaling $63,000 were received from individuals, groups and companies during the 2001-02 campaign.
Warmth for Wake recipients must be Wake County residents. Eligibility is determined through Wake County Human Services, taking into consideration all income and resources as well as expenses and emergency or special situations that may affect available income. Income guidelines are based on current poverty levels.
Warmth for Wake is funded entirely through voluntary tax-deductible contributions from citizens, churches, civic and fraternal organizations and businesses. Contributions are accepted at any Wake County bank or can be mailed to Warmth for Wake, P.O. Box 46833, Raleigh, NC 27620.
The NCBA brings together all categories of banking institutions to best represent the interests of this rapidly changing industry. With 142 members, it has served North Carolina bankers since 1897, and can be found on the World Wide Web at http://www.ncba.com/.
