REGISTER OF DEEDS REPORT ON VITAL RECORDS

WAKE COUNTY 2018 BIRTHS, DEATHS, AND MARRIAGES ARE KEEPING ON THE 2017 PACE

Raleigh, NC – The Wake County Register of Deeds records certificates of births and deaths that occur in Wake County and issues marriage licenses that are valid throughout North Carolina.

Between January and June of 2018, Wake County had 6,451 births, 80 more than between the same six-month period in 2017.

Wake County experienced 3,398 deaths in the first six months of 2018, 84 more than in the same January through June period of 2017.

Marriage licenses issued in Wake County between January and June of 2018 equaled 3,329. Comparing the first six months of 2018 to the first six months in 2017, marriage licenses issued dropped by 229.

“As we pass the halfway point of 2018, the overall birth and death rate in Wake County is on track to keep up with 2017’s rate. We are seeing a slight drop so far in marriage licenses issued and we still may see a spike during the coming Autumn months into Winter,” states Wake County Register of Deeds Charles Gilliam.
