Wake County Launches Online Permit Portal

Wake County residents and contractors can now apply for and view permits and planning documents online from the comfort of their own home, office or job site.

The county’s new, mobile-friendly Permit Portal allows people to:

  • Submit permit applications and electronic plans
  • Obtain plan review comments and permit status updates
  • Pay fees
  • Schedule inspections and check results

“We’re excited about the benefits and convenience this new system offers members of our development community,” said Tim Maloney, director of Wake County Planning, Development and Inspections. “The Permit Portal will put information at their fingertips and provide a seamless way for them to engage with county staff.”

Permits and plans in the following areas will be available through the Permit Portal:

  • Groundwater and wells
  • Stormwater, erosion control and floodplain management
  • Septic and wastewater
  • Food service, facilities and pool inspections
  • Subdivision and zoning
  • Building permits and inspections
  • Fire services

Access the Permit Portal at wakegov.com/permitportal.
