Celebrate the Arts Events Scheduled at Wake Libraries

October is National Arts and Humanities Month and Wake County Public Libraries has scheduled several activities to commemorate and support the cause.  All programs are free to the public, but registration is required.  Events include:

Thursday, October 11, 6:30 p.m.
Do not toss out your Grandmother’s Letters

Join Emily Herring Wilson at North Regional Library as she discusses the art of letter-writing, focusing on letters from well-known female authors. For information or to register, call 919-870-4000. North Regional Library is located at 7009 Harps Mill Road, Raleigh.

The Blues

Bring the family to East Regional Library to hear Bill Ferris, Professor of History at UNC-Chapel Hill and widely renowned leader in Southern Studies, African American Music and folklore discuss “The Blues.” For information or to register, call 919-217-5300. Jane Austen Mini Conference

Visit Cameron Village Regional Library to learn about Author Jane Austen. Sponsored by the Jane Austen Society, Dr. Celia Easton will talk about Jane Austen's favorite novel, and Dr. Inger Brodey, will discuss "The Entertainment Value of Suffering: Jane Austen and the Luxuries of Distress." The Art of Flash Photography

Photography enthusiasts are invited to West Regional Library to Celebrate the Arts in recognition of National Arts and Humanities Month. Learn how to use flash photography for better pictures.
