Wake County to Close Knightdale, Garner Shelters; Apex Location to Remain Open
Due to the improving weather conditions, Wake County closed the Knightdale High School shelter located at 100 Bryan Chalk Lane, Knightdale, but will remain on standby to open at 4 p.m., if needed.

The Apex United Methodist Red Cross shelter, located at 100 Hughes St., Apex, will continue to be open to the public.

The Garner United Methodist ARC shelter, 201 Methodist Drive, Garner, will close at noon today, but will remain on standby in case of need.

These shelters are not equipped to provide life-sustaining medical support. Residents who have life-sustaining medical equipment that is vulnerable to electrical failure should call 919-856-7044 if they anticipate needing assistance.

At this time, the Wake County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will remain at level three. This means that equipment and personnel are responding and the EOC is staffed on a continual basis. This staffing includes a call center that is available to handle non-emergency calls in English and Spanish. The call center phone number is 919-856-7044. People should call 9-1-1 in an emergency.
