Spring into April with Wake County Public Libraries

From stories to Star Wars, there’s a lot going on at libraries across Wake County in April. Start spring with the following creative activities and events.

12th Annual Story Writing Contest
Young authors in grades 2–5 are invited to enter our annual Story Writing Contest. Participants can submit one entry, and original stories must be handwritten on 8.5-inch-by-11-inch paper and should not exceed three pages. Both sides of the page may be used, and illustrations are excluded from total page count. Entries are accepted April 1–29 at West Regional Library.

For more information, contact Bridget Daniel.

Storybook Ball
Children ages 3 and older and their families are cordially invited to the Storybook Ball. Join us while the library is closed for a magical evening of dancing, crafting, stories and more. Come as your favorite storybook character or in your royal best.

Star Wars Fest
A short time from now, in a library not too far away … Wake County Public Libraries will celebrate Star Wars and reading! Take part in a variety of exciting Star Wars-themed events for school-age children and families at your local library.

Visit one of our regional libraries the last weekend in April or the first weekend in May for a Star Wars Fest. Libraries will feature a viewing of “Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures,” as well as crafts and games for Jedi and stormtroopers of all ages. For adults, libraries will have an adult Sci-Fi Drop-In Program.

Visit one of our community libraries the first week in May to participate in a Super Special Star Wars Celebration. There will be crafts, games, trivia and books featuring your favorite Star Wars characters. Costumes are encouraged.
