Annual Fall Harvest Celebration at Historic Yates Mill County Park September 16

Storytellers, live music, games and local food are among the many things awaiting visitors at this year’s Fall Harvest Celebration at Historic Yates Mill County Park.

The 12th annual celebration will take place on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The free event is open to all ages and features harvest-related demonstrations and hands-on activities for the entire family.

Attendees can enjoy listening to live music, learning about pottery and soap making, participating in harvest-time singing and dancing, and looking at antique farm equipment and tractors. Local food vendors will be on site, and event-goers can also sample foods made from corn and other agricultural products.

The Historic Yates Mill, Wake County’s last operable water-powered gristmill, will also be open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. for 30-minute tours and corn-grinding demonstrations conducted by costumed interpreters. Mill tours are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors ages 60 years old and older, and $3 for students ages 7–16 years old. Children 6 years old and under are free.

Historic Yates Mill County Park is located at 4620 Lake Wheeler Road in Raleigh. Learn more here or by calling 919-856-6675.
