​September is Library Card Sign-Up Month

This month, we encourage you to join the more than 234,000 residents or households who used their Wake County Public Libraries card in the past year. September marks the 30th anniversary of national Library Card Sign-Up Month.

Library Card Sign-Up Month is an effort to remind parents and young people that signing up for a library card is the first step towards academic success and lifelong learning. People can sign up for a library card online or in person at one of 22 public library locations throughout Wake County.

Get a card today to access all of the libraries’ resources and programs. In addition to books, Wake County Public Libraries offer:

  • Author visits
  • Music performances
  • Meet-the-artist events
  • Get that Job services
  • Custom reading lists
  • Teen leadership corps
  • School-age events
  • Storytimes
  • Downloadable books and audio books
  • Databases, such as Ancestry.com
  • Consumer reports, magazines, newspapers
