Energy Assistance Available to Help Residents Stay Warm

Wake County reminds residents that help is available for those who struggle to pay their heating bills.

The Low Income Energy Assistance Program makes a one-time payment to utility vendors to help ease the burden of expensive heating bills for eligible low-income families.

"Any household that meets requirements can receive these benefits," said Janny Flynt, Wake County Human Services energy assistance program manager. "Energy assistance is important to all who receive it, but especially for those who may be at risk of a life-threatening illness or death if their home is too cold. We encourage residents who need help paying their bills to apply."

Assistance is available from Jan. 1 through March 31, or until funding runs out.

Applications are available online. Residents can submit completed applications in person, via mail, via fax or via email. View submission information here.
