Free Fall Fun at Wake County Parks in October

Saturday, Oct. 29, 1–3 p.m.
Canine Contests at Crowder District Park
Bring your four-legged friends to Crowder District Park for the fourth annual Canine Contests. If your dog has the best tricks or the coolest canine costume, come show it off during this afternoon of fun. This is a free event, and no registration is required. Crowder District Park is located at 4709 Ten Ten Road, Apex.

Family Wildlife Series: Nuts to You! at Blue Jay Point County Park

The piedmont woodland harvest is amazing! Hike and learn how to identify woodland fruits and nuts, and hear some interesting lore along the way. This all-ages program has a $1 fee per person, and preregistration is required. Blue Jay Point County Park is located at 3200 Pleasant Union Church Road, Raleigh.

Sunday, Oct. 30, 3:30–4:30 p.m.
Park Tales: The Headless Horseman at Historic Yates Mill County Park

As Halloween approaches, hear the spooky story of the Headless Horseman come to life with a reading of Washington Irving's spooky story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," complete with props and sound effects. Patrons will also have the opportunity to make a paper headless horseman puppet to take home. This program is for all ages, but adult accompaniment is required for children participants. Historic Yates Mill County Park is located at 4620 Lake Wheeler Road, Raleigh.
