The Wake County Board of Commissioners
approved goals for 2013 during its regularly scheduled meeting March 18, 2013. The goals
fall within the categories of education, the economy and jobs and investments, public safety, behavioral health, new "infrastructure" partnerships, transit and continuing goals from prior years.
"The Board of Commissioners' number one goal is to ‘Work with the Wake County Public School System on a capital program which will be supported by the citizens and voters of Wake County for a scheduled bond referendum in the Fall of 2013,'" said Wake County Board of Commissioners Chairman Joe Bryan.
Commissioners heard presentations from each Wake municipality during its 2013 planning retreat, held on Friday, February 15, 2013, and used the input in developing the goals.
"The board places a high priority on developing partnerships and working with the community to build a better Wake County, and these goals reflect that commitment," said Bryan. "While the 2013 goals reflect the long-term vision of County government, many are tasks that we hope to accomplish or make progress on this year."
