Northern Regional Center Hosts Community Week

Community Week is under way at the Wake County Northern Regional Center, 350 E. Holding Ave. in Wake Forest. Residents are invited to stop by to learn more about the many helpful services, ranging from health and housing assistance to employment and education resources, it offers.

"We are excited to host the first annual Community Week at our center," said Ross Yeager, Northern Regional Center director. "Our goal is to connect local residents with the resources and services that exist in their own backyards, so we can help make a difference in their daily lives."

The Northern Regional Center is partnering with the Towns of Wake Forest and Rolesville, as well as several county departments and community organizations, to host the week-long event. Throughout the week, more than 50 different local organizations will be on site to:

  • Teach CPR;
  • Give pointers on the best local parks;
  • Provide helpful tips on early childhood education; and
  • Connect local residents with job opportunities.

In addition to learning about helpful services, residents can participate in fun activities such as face painting and getting to know their neighbors over popcorn.

Community Week runs through April 23. The Northern Regional Center is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please visit wakegov.com/communityweek for a complete schedule of events.
