Wake Website Promotes Open Government

​National Sunshine Week is Sunday, March 10, 2013, to Saturday, March 16, 2013, and promotes the importance of open, transparent government. Wake County has several services available on www.wakegov.com that support transparency and provide access to government for our citizens.

Information about all public meetings is available on the website. Agendas and materials for the Board of Commissioners meetings are available online ahead of time. Citizens can also watch Board of Commissioner meetings live on Wake County’s website and view past meetings, agendas and minutes there as well.
The Wake Accountability Tax Check (WATCH) portal allows citizens to view online how their tax dollars are used. They can easily see information about county government expenditures, view transactions with vendors and compare the budget to actual expenses.

Also, all Wake County ordinances are searchable and available from the website.
Recently the Sunshine Review gave Wake County’s website at www.wakegov.com the highest score in the state, and one of the highest in the nation for transparency.
