Board of Elections Candidate Filing Now Underway

The Wake County Board of Elections began filing state and county candidates for office on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at noon. Filing will close on Monday, Dec. 21, at noon. The following offices are eligible to file during this period:

Office Districts/Seats
NC Senate District Seats 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18
NC House of Representatives  District Seats 11, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41 and 49 
County Commissioners Districts A, B, 4, 5 and 6
Register of Deeds  


Eligible candidates can file for office at the Wake County Board of Elections office, 337 S. Salisbury St. in Raleigh.

In order to file, candidates should bring:

  • A valid ID for notarization purposes;
  • A check to pay for filing fees. Each candidate's name and address must be pre-printed on the check; and
  • Any completed campaign finance documents (not required).

Voters are encouraged to check their district information on the Wake County Board of Elections website, using the Voter Information Section.
