Have a 'Spook-Tacular' Halloween with Wake County

Halloween is right around the corner, and there are several family-friendly events that are being held at our parks and libraries throughout the County to help residents experience the festivities in a fun and "spook-tacular" environment.

Creepy Crabtree
Lake Crabtree County Park presents its annual Halloween event, Creepy Crabtree, on Saturday, October 24 from 2–6 p.m. This year's highlights will feature "Alien Invaders," "Parasites and Bloodsuckers" and "Spiders and Snakes." Join the freakish festivities, including scary scavenger hunts, gruesome games and creepy crafts. Earn prizes by visiting each of the booths and participating in the activities. Be sure to check-in at the White Oak Shelter when you arrive for details. Wear your Halloween costume.

Halloween Hoot Storytimes
During the last week of October, regional libraries will present Halloween-themed storytimes for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and families. These storytimes will be followed by a costume parade and trick-or-treating. Community libraries will present Halloween-themed storytimes that include costumes and treats. Dates and times vary by library location. Check the events calendar and make plans to join us for a fun and safe Halloween celebration.

Full Moon Halloween Hike
Dress up in your Halloween costume or come as you are for an evening hike down the American Tobacco Trail on Tuesday, October 27, from 6:30–8 p.m. During the hike, you will learn about and search for bats, owls and other nighttime wildlife. As the night grows dark, the group will stop at the Beaver Creek Bridge to spotlight a beaver lodge. This program is for all ages, and the fee is $5/family or $3/person. The hike will begin at the New Hill Parking Area, 1309 New Hill-Olive Chapel Road, Apex, NC 27502.

Story Time for Grown Ups: Thrilling Tales and Selected Shorts
Story time is not just for kids! Enjoy haunting short stories and ghostly tales read to you by a librarian, followed by a brief discussion. Registration requested.
