North Wake Landfill Construction to Cause Minimal Service Impact

Year-long construction and improvements to North Wake Multi-Materials and Household Hazardous Waste Facilities, scheduled to begin Monday, September 28, 2015, will cause minimal service impacts in the surrounding community.

Throughout the enhancement project, access to neighboring schools will not be impacted. The entrance and facilities to North Wake Landfill District Park will remain the same and park visitors will continue to enjoy the opportunities the park has to offer, despite the nearby construction.

Citizens should be aware that there will be construction crews in the area during the coming months. Drivers are asked to exercise caution and be more alert around work zones.

"We are asking that the public be more cautious when traveling in the area around North Wake Landfill Park," said John Roberson, Wake County Solid Waste Management Director. "Upon completion, this project will enhance the North Wake Multi-Materials and Household Hazardous Waste Facilities, making them more accessible for the public, while accommodating for the growth of Wake County."

There will be more impactful changes occurring during June and July 2016. More information will be released as further phases of construction begin.

For more information about the enhancement project, contact Tom Covington, Project Manager, at 919-856-6362 or John Roberson, Solid Waste Management Division Director, at 919-856-6365.
