Leesville Community Library Reopens

The Leesville Community Library, which sustained extensive damage from fire and smoke due to an arson fire in February, reopened to the public on Saturday, September 5.

Repairs to the library included repairs to the roof, circulation area, book return room and public restrooms. The exterior book return was replaced, and a protective fire suppression system was installed. This system will prevent similar damage from occurring again, as any fire will be extinguished by the fire suppression system.

In addition to the repairs, the contents of the building, including furniture, shelving, supplies, HVAC unit and the collection of 46,000 books, were cleaned and deodorized. The original floor plan was also updated to provide more space for youth services, new carpet was installed, and new furniture and computers were purchased for the library.

For more information about the renovation project, contact Terri Luke, Senior Library Manager for Facilities, at 919-463-8505 or Ellen Guerci, Library Manager at 919-571-6661.
