Human Services to Hold Child Support Amnesty Day

Wake County Human Services is hosting Child Support Amnesty Day on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., in the Wake County Office Building, Suite 800, 337 S. Salisbury St, Raleigh.

This event offers the opportunity to resolve child support matters without the threat of arrest or incarceration. Individuals who have an order for arrest are encouraged to come and must bring a minimum of $400 per case in cash or money order payable to Wake County Clerk of Court.

"We hope people will take advantage of this event," said Tomiko Hicks, Wake County's Child Support Services Program Manager. "Our goal is to restore lines of communication between our office and those delinquent in their child support. We are also partnering with community resources to help payers get back on track. In doing so, we can begin or re-establish receipt of consistent monthly payments for minor children who need and deserve the financial support of both their parents."

Three partnering agencies will be present to offer job leads and career counseling; to educate and encourage parents about healthy family relationships; and to introduce opportunities and programs that help create a good bond between parents and their children.
