Wake to Host Keeping the Farm Workshop

Wake County will host the Eighth Annual Keeping the Farm Workshop on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Wake County Commons Building, 4011 Carya Drive, Raleigh. This workshop will bring experts in the field of agriculture to discuss the challenges and options for farms in the county.

The Keeping the Farm Workshop provides landowners and operators with information on land use. This year’s theme will focus on changes in property taxes in 2013, safety issues, law enforcement, cost-share programs for farms, legislative impacts, forestry rules and estate law updates.
The event is a partnership between Wake County’s Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD); Wake County Parks, Recreation and Open Space; United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service; USDA Farm Service Agency; N.C. Cooperative Extension Department; N.C. State University Agriculture and Resource Economics; North Carolina Forest Service; and Friends of Wake SWCD.
