West Elected as Chair, Sullivan Elected as Vice Chair

On Monday, December 1, 2014, the Wake County Board of Commissioners swore in newly elected commissioners John D. Burns, Matt Calabria, Jessica Holmes and Sig Hutchinson, during its regular meeting at the Wake County Justice Center. Each commissioner will serve a four-year term.
The Board also elected Dr. James West as its new chair and Caroline Sullivan as vice chair, each for a one-year term and effective immediately. The chair presides over Board meetings and represents the County in an official capacity at community, business and other functions. In the absence of the chair, the vice chair assumes these duties.
"I’m honored to serve as chair for the next year," said West. "It's my goal to continue the County’s legacy in providing quality services to our residents and I look forward to collaborating with community partners and staff on ongoing initiatives.”
West was first appointed to the Board in 2010 and was re-elected in 2012.
Soil and Water District Supervisors Jennifer Austin Wadsworth, Matthew Overby and Patrick Johnson were also sworn in at the December 1 meeting.
