Time Capsule Commemorates Justice Center Opening

The Wake County Board of Commissioners presented a time capsule at its regularly scheduled meeting Monday, November 17, 2014. The time capsule commemorates the span of time involved in the planning, designing and construction of the Wake County Justice Center, which officially opened on Monday, July 1, 2013.

The Board of Commissioners and each department chose several items to be placed in the capsule. The time capsule is scheduled to be opened in 50 years, on July 1, 2063.

Among the items inside are:

  • A BlackBerry cell phone
  • Ribbon from the Justice Center ribbon cutting ceremony
  • A Wake County lapel pin
  • An Every Child Ready to Read bookmark
  • Voter registration statistics by precinct, June 3, 2013
  • GIS 2013 data trends
  • 2013 adopted budget book
  • The 2012 Annual Report
