Veterans Event to Provide Assistance

Wake County and partners will host the 8th annual Capital Area Vets Stand Down on Friday, October 17, 2014, at the South Wilmington Street Center, 1420 South Wilmington St., Raleigh, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. More than 200 veterans are expected to attend.

The event, which is led by the grass-roots intervention program The Stand Down, connects local veterans with services such as housing and employment assistance, healthcare and much more.

A full breakfast and lunch will be served, and shower and laundry facilities will be available. Veterans will also have the opportunity to meet with various service organizations, including Veterans Affairs and Veterans Services Officers.
