Commissioners Sworn In: Bryan Elected as Chair, Matthews Vice Chair
On Monday, December 3, 2012, the Wake County Board of Commissioners swore in newly elected commissioner Caroline Sullivan and two re-elected commissioners, Betty Lou Ward and James West, during its regular meeting. Each commissioner will serve a four-year term.

The Board also elected Joe Bryan as its new chair and Phil Matthews as vice chair, each for a one-year term and effective immediately. The chair presides over Board meetings and represents the County in an official capacity at community, business and other functions.

"I’m honored to serve as chair for the third time, and have another opportunity to lead this team through the challenges ahead," said Joe Bryan, chair, Wake County Board of Commissioners. "It's my goal to re-establish and restore important partnerships with the school system as we move forward on education bonds for next fall.”
