The polls for the primary election open on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 6:30 a.m. and will remain open until 7:30 p.m. at all Wake County polling sites. Those who did not register to vote by April 11, 2014, will not be eligible to vote in the primary election.
In accordance with election laws effective in 2014, voters must vote in their assigned polling place on Election Day. If a voter votes a provisional ballot outside the assigned polling place, the ballot will not count. Registered voters in Wake County who have moved to a new address in Wake County and did not update the address with the Board of Elections office should go to the precinct of the new address to vote. This will ensure they receive the correct ballot containing all races for which they are eligible to vote.
Voters are not required to show photo identification when they present to vote in person on Election Day. Beginning in 2016, North Carolina will require voters to show photo identification when they present to vote.
