ILA Becomes Official with Commissioners' Approval
Wake County Board of Commissioners (BOC) approved the interlocal agreement (ILA) for the site acquisition, design and construction of school buildings with the Wake Board of Education (BOE) at its regularly scheduled meeting March 17, 2014. Board approval is the final step to making the ILA official. The BOE signed the document on Tuesday, March 4, 2014.

"The County Commissioners and Board of Education have developed a close working relationship through the school bond referendum and the development of this interlocal agreement," said Wake Commissioners' Chair Phil Matthews.

In addition to design and construction agreements, the ILA establishes a Core Team led by Deputy County Manager Johnna Rogers and Schools' Assistant Superintendent for Facilities Joe Desormeaux. The Team will meet regularly to develop a written process that governs collaboration between the administrations and work together on school building projects. The BOC and BOE will meet at least once a year to discuss the implementation of the ILA.
