Wake County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) recently opened registration for the annual Business Environmental & Safety Training (BEST) Conference. The conference will be held Thursday, February 6, 2014, at the McKimmon Center, North Carolina State University, 1101 Gorman St., Raleigh. The LEPC is a federally mandated committee with membership from local businesses, emergency response groups, media, hospitals, environmental interest groups and universities. The mission is to effectively plan for emergencies involving hazardous materials.
