Stand Down Event to Provide Assistance for Vets
Wake County and partners will host the 7th annual Capital Area Vets Stand Down on Friday, October 18, 2013, at the South Wilmington Street Center, 1420 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. More than 200 veterans are expected to attend.

The event, which is led by the grass-roots intervention program The Stand Down, connects local veterans who are experiencing homelessness with the services they need. This includes access to food, haircuts, laundry services and showers. Veterans will also have the opportunity to meet with various service organizations including the Veteran Affairs (VA) and Veterans Services Officers.

The Capital Area Vets Stand Down is sponsored by Wake Human Services, Wake Community Services, North Carolina Department of Commerce Division of Employment Security, Raleigh Vet Center and the Durham VA Medical Center.
