The Wake Board of Commissioners adopted a new goal at the Monday, October 7, 2013, meeting: to make Wake the healthiest capital county in the United States. The County Health Rankings and Roadmaps program has ranked Wake as the overall healthiest county in North Carolina for four consecutive years. Building on that success, the County invited leadership from the John Rex Foundation, area hospitals and other community organizations to improve the health of Wake citizens."This is an exciting time for the whole County," said Wake Human Services Director Ramon Rojano. "The County Health Rankings is now serving as a valuable tool that has brought major energy and impetus to further our public health vision."Leaders from several organizations in the community and County staff will work together to review data from the recently completed Community Health Needs Assessment, the County Health Rankings indicators, and other sources in order to prioritize the top indicators that may become targets for future interventions.Learn more about Board goals and priorities.
