Celebrate Mill Life at Wake's Harvest Festival
The public is invited to join park staff and volunteers for a fun-filled day at the Eighth Annual Harvest Celebration at Historic Yates Mill County Park, 4620 Lake Wheeler Road, Raleigh, on Saturday, September 21, 2013, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This free event will feature harvest-related demonstrations and hands-on activities for the entire family, plus a variety of community displays, story-tellers, games, bluegrass music and singing and dancing. Participants are encouraged to sample food made from corn and other agricultural products, and North Carolina State University ice cream will be available for sale throughout the event.

Historic Yates Mill, Wake County's last operable water-powered gristmill, will be open for half-hour tours and corn-grinding demonstrations conducted by costumed interpreters from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tour fees are $5 per adult, $4 for seniors (60+), $3 for students ages 7 to 16, and children ages 6 and under are free.
